Journal - Tuesday - October 31, 2023 - TOLERANCE

TOLERANCE

Let's define TOLERANCE; "the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with."

Here is that definition again, "the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with."

There are two words in that definition that are key to being TOLERANT or HAVING TOLERANCE.

Those words are "ability" and "willingness"

Now, this may come as no surprise but the definition does NOT include words like "unlimited," "infinite", or "endless".

When it comes to TOLERANCE there a point which ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

There can only be so much tolerating, especially when individuals continually behave in a manner that is challenging you and your boundaries. These individuals may also claim to "respect" you but their actions are completely opposite.

These individuals live in a delusional state where they believe that because of the "status" or "position" they can behaving negatively with impunity. In case, those individuals forgot, impunity means "exemption from punishment or freedom from the injurious consequences of an action."

Be tolerant. Have Tolerance For Others but remember there is a limit. What that limit is, is solely up to you. You decide when enough is enough. Then once decided tolerate no more of their nonsense, especially those that show you no respect.

Journal - Monday - October 30, 2023 - SELF-RELIANCE

SELF-RELIANCE

Here is one that EVERYONE must master.

You must master SELF-RELIANCE with GREAT HUMILITY.

There are NO celebrations for your SELF-RELIANCE.

There are no cookies and punch when you declare things such as, "I have done it, by myself, for so long" or "I don't need no man" or "I don't need a woman to do what I can do for myself" or "Why do I need a partner when I can do it myself?"

See, no cookies, no cake, no confetti!

Why?

Because everyone ~~should~~ must be SELF-RELIANT.

Congratulations! You are succeeding in being a self-sufficient person.

You can achieve what is expected of you and not one thing more.

SELF-RELIANCE means you can survive.

However, SELF-RELIANCE is more than chopping wood or carrying water.

SELF-RELIANCE is about you SELFLESSLY doing what it takes to thrive.

To thrive as an individual.

However, if you choose to wear your perception of SELF-RELIANCE as a badge of honor, well don't expect to receive a medal or a ribbon or even a cake from the rest of the world.

We are too busy doing our thing.

But if you absolutely need validation, then start by looking in the mirror and try to fool yourself.

Remember, you are not fooling anyone.

Journal - Sunday - October 29, 2023 - REALISM

REALISM

A definition of realism that comes to mind is "the quality or fact of representing a person, thing, or situation accurately or in a way that is true to life."

Far too many individuals lack the ability to understand what realism is and all about.

These are the individuals that CLAIM they know what true realism is.

They usually don't have a clue especially when they claim it is their way or the highway.

They have found themselves with their back up against the wall and decided that the only way to get out of the corner is to demand that their nonsensical fairy tale they keep telling themselves is the truth.

Proceed with caution with these type of individuals. Their reality most certainly does NOT align with reality.

Journal - Saturday - October 28, 2023 - MOTIVATION

MOTIVATION

Did you know that MOTIVATION is defined as, "the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way."

The definition has nothing to do with good or bad.

It has everything to do with the individual and what their intentions are.

What is driving the individual to do what they do or behave the way they behave.

Think about this. If the motivation to behave in such a god awful manner is to get revenge on someone so be it.

If the motivation is break up relationships all because the individual cannot maintain their own relationship or just cannot be simply be happy for others, then that is not only sad and depressing but that is plain and simple evil.

So be careful and mind your motivations.

Journal - Friday - October 27, 2023 - HONESTY

HONESTY

Billy Joel was most certainly on the right track when he sang, "But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind. It always seems to be so hard to give. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue."

Dr. Gregory House, from the TV show HOUSE, had a standing mantra, "EVERYBODY LIES"

Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor, said "If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it."

These three quotes have one thing in common. They are rooted on the idea that honesty is the best practice, the needed practice, sadly far too many people find HONESTY is very easy to ignore and do so with impunity and at their own peril.

Honesty is the one thing that will always set the record straight.

Honesty delivers something so refreshing that can only come from sharing the truth.

Honesty is important in any successful relationship.

In relationship founded and built on lies, withholding honesty and deception FAILURE is inevitable.

Successful Relationships (at all levels) that have a solid foundation of truth and honesty are those that are going to last.

Keep working on yourself and deliver honesty, always.

Then you will see who wants to be part of your life and who would rather go their own way (as they most certainly should).

Journal - Thursday - October 26, 2023 - GRATITUDE

GRATITUDE

WHEN YOU SAY THANK YOU AND MEAN IT that is what TRUE GRATITUDE is all about.

Folks, you are not fooling anyone when you say Thank You and do not mean it.

When you do not mean it, people notice.

When you say the words but your actions are the opposite, no matter how dumb you believe people are, they are not.

Remember, you can pull the wool over some of the people some of the time but you cannot do it all the time.

People will see right through you.

It is not paranoia, it is not your imagination running away with you, it is you being insincere. It is YOU being INAUTHENTIC and EVERYONE knows it.

NEVER take Gratitude for Granted.

Be Authentic and Genuine!

CONSISTENCY

When it comes to CONSISTENCY that is truly the only way people will start to count on you.

Good or Bad, no matter the action your consistency is what will determine what you bring to the table and how others will respect you or deny you.

Consistently behaving like an arrogant ass will quickly get you tagged as one.

Consistently keeping your word, you will become someone held to high esteem and trust.

See, it is all about consistency.

There is no denying it.

Be Consistent.

However, be absolutely certain in what you want to be consistent about.

As Consistency will inevitably pay off.

BALANCE

Balance...NOTHING IS EVER IN BALANCE.

Life is never in Balance

Work is never in Balance

NOTHING is ever in Balance.

WHY do I say this?

I say this because like all things that move, they are DYNAMIC. Being dynamic is the opposite of being stagnant. A rock is stagnant. It is stagnant until a strong gust of wind comes along and moves it.

Water will change the form of the stagnant rock. Changing form is dynamic only because no one knows what it will look like in the end.

Once the rain and the wind (or extremely excessive heat) STOPS then it becomes stagnant until the next time.

As you are not a stone, YOU are DYNAMIC.

Thus, you will NEVER be in Balance. Seriously, do not kid yourself.

Things will never remain in balance for long. Actually, they remain in balance long enough to confirm that balance was achieved then almost instantly, it is out of balance (PROVE ME WRONG).

However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with working to balance the scales, so long as you know they will never stay balanced.

Accept the fact that BALANCE is only attainable for very short periods and know to not let it stay lop-sided for too long. Work to regain what is tipping the scale even if it takes a lifetime.

FASCINATION

As the song goes, "Keep Feeling Fascination, Looking, Learning, Moving On!"

Take that approach to everything you say and do and see what happens!

Everything!

Be fascinated by all that is around you and you will quickly discover how everything is NOT about you but about you being part of everything.

Be Mesmerized, Be Fascinated, Just Be!

Grow because of that Fascination.

Believe me, the sooner you realize that YOU are part of everything the sooner you realize that you are right where you need to be in life.

The world does not stop being fascinating every time you don't feel like it.

The world continues being fascinating. The world will continue being fascinating long after we are gone.

We are just part of that fascination!

SUPPORT

Who's got your back? Who is there to support you?

Who is there to give you the moral support, you need when you need it?

Forget financial support.

Financial Support is always limited and will always create animosity.

Remember, no amount of financial support will ever compare to moral support.

If you had to choose between those that gave you financial support or moral support, always go with moral support.

If people cannot be bothered to give you the moral support then they are not the people you want in your life.

The individuals that want you to support them but refuse to support you are definitely the ones that are going to cause more problems than they will help you solve.

It does NOT matter who those individuals are. You have to protect yourself. You have to motivate yourself and begging for moral support from others is NEVER going to get you to where you want to go.

EXPERIENCE

Folks, when it comes to Experience, there is ONLY TWO things that must be understood.

By UNDERSTOOD, I mean FULLY WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND!

#1 YOUR EXPERIENCE IS UNIQUELY YOURS

#2 PEOPLE WILL EXPERIENCE THINGS THEIR OWN WAY!

To save yourself from lots of heartache, misunderstanding, jealousy, anger, and anything else that may make you anxious, please clearly understand the two things I just shared with you.

However, if you and ego refuse to understand, well, enjoy the repercussions, as there will most certainly be fallout from YOUR LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AND ACCEPTING.

FLEXIBILITY

In an age where things are constantly changing and if you are NOT prepared to change, well you get what you deserve.

It is that simple.

I understand that one must roll with the punches in order to get to what you really want.

However, you have to also be flexible in that it may a longer journey than you planned.

The obstacles in your way must be dealt with in order to succeed.

Again, FLEXIBILITY is what will get you passed all the obstacles that stand in your way.

FLEXIBILITY means you choosing to do what MUST be done.

It also means, you are prepared to do what it takes no matter what.

Remember, we are talking about your SELF-LEADERSHIP journey.

Be FLEXIBLE for YOURSELF FIRST AND ALWAYS.

If others see it the other, well that's on them.

They have got their problems, they have their obstacles and challenges.

Those are NOT YOUR OBSTACLES AND CHALLENGES.

FLEXIBILITY is YOUR key to SUCCESS Make it happen!

Journal - Thursday - October 12, 2023 - CANDOR

CANDOR

For those that are not too sure on what CANDOR means, well you're in luck.

Here is the Oxford Languages definition: "the quality of being open and honest in expression; frankness."

Before anyone gets all bent out of shape let me be perfectly clear. Let me be frank.

CANDOR is a double edged sword.

Everyone expects candor in their conversations.

However, there are two sides of candor.

There are those that speak with great candor without hesitation and reservation.

Of those individuals, the moment candor is given back to them, they "lose their $hit". How dare anyone speak to them with such candor?

Proceed with caution?

NEVER, You stand your ground and whether they like it or not (that's on them).

Deliver your words with such candor (but don't over do it) and eventually they will realize it is normal for you and nothing will change that.

Again, Be You...Whether They Like It or Not, again that's on them!

Journal - Wednesday - October 11, 2023 - RESOLUTE

RESOLUTE

When it comes to taking charge of your life.

Developing your SELF-LEADERSHIP there is a component that will seal the deal for your current and future interactions.

Interactions with others and most importantly, yourself.

TO BE RESOLUTE is to be "admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering."

Simple, make a decision stick to it.

Bring them in closer or cut them loose, once the decision is made there is nothing that can be done to change it.

BE RESOLUTE.

You may be tempted to back pedal. Tempted to go with the flow. Tempted to maintain the status quo.

But ask yourself the following:

What are you back pedaling to?
Who's flow are you going to go with?
Who's status quo are you maintaining.

If your answer is for someone other than you, then you are WRONG!

• For you to back pedal is to NOT GO FORWARD.
• For you to go with the flow, remember even dead fish go with the flow.
• For you to maintain the status quo because of someone else, means you will never know what is your status quo.

There is NO POSSIBLE way you can ever grow and succeed by doing it for someone else.

Be RESOLUTE with yourself ALWAYS and you will most certainly be on the fast track to success, whether any one else likes it or not.

NOTHING LESS

As some point and time you come to a point of indecision.

You know a decision has to be made.

However, no matter what you decide the result will be the same.

However, by being indecisive you can no longer go down the path of making no decision.

Which you believe to result as nothing gained because nothing was lost.

You get more of what is causing you to withhold the decision.

No decision is the same as sticking your head in the sand.

When you finally decide to pull your head out of the sand, the same situation remains only greater.

There is more of the same.

Nothing Gained, Nothing Lost.

Decisions must be made!

When your back is up against the wall you have do what you MUST do.

As there is, as the song goes, NOTHING LESS & nothing more (to do or say).

It is in the simple things that makes life better.

Those that excel at making all things difficult are not going to make any life better, especially yours.

Folks, the most simple thing to do to release yourself from the negative B.S. of others is to cut those ties that bind you.

Perfection to all is beauty.

However, to some perfection is their downfall.

Perfection, to them, is never attained.

Perfection holds them back.

Folks, PERFECTION is subjective.

While you should honor yourself, never become consumed with being perfect.

Most of all, you will never achieve PERFECTION no matter how hard you try.

Just Do Your BETTER than your BEST and then move on!

Journal - Thursday - October 5, 2023 - ADAPTABILITY

ADAPTABILITY

To have the ability to change, adapt and overcome is the cornerstone of any successful individual.

You may have heard the words "change, adapt and overcome" in a war movie or two. You may have heard those words tossed about by members of the military, especially from those in the Combat Arms side of the Armed Forces.

They say this because no other group in any vocation knows better that there is NO PERFECT time or situation. Actually, all situations and scenarios are evolving and changing.

Therefore, for anyone to win in such situations there is ONLY one rule to remember:
Be Adaptable.

Adapt to your surrounding (i.e., weather, terrain).

Adapt to your mission (i.e., sell more widgets, recruit more employees)

Adapt to your situation (i.e., abundance of resources, lack of resources)

Adapt to any change.

Adapt and survive. Adapt to win.

ADAPTABILITY is what will make you or break you.

Do not forget, to ADAPT means YOU will have to put in the work.

You drive (and motivate) yourself, no matter what.

You want to succeed in life, then you have to have the DRIVE to do so.

At the end of the day, you still have to DRIVE yourself home.

HUMILITY

For all that you do, fail to do, for all the words you say and fail to say remember to show a little humility once in a while.

However, you have every right to toot your own horn. This is especially so, when there is no one doing it for you.

However, it is prudent to know when you've gone to far. Then back off.

Do not let your humility completely silence you.

Say what has got to be said but do not let it get out of control. Otherwise, you may be called out on what others may perceive as "nonsense".

Remember, everyone is entitled to their own unique perspective, no matter how wrong it is.

Thus, when it comes to the way you define and practice humility, you continue to do you, whether anyone else likes it or not.

Journal - Monday - October 2, 2023 - ACTION

ACTION

When ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, that is the time to take action.

Taking Action will ALWAYS be two things:

#1 The Right Thing To Do For Yourself.

#2 Other won't like it. They won't like because you decided to take control of your life.

When you decide ENOUGH IS ENOUGH is the day that ALL ACTION turns in your favor.

When You Take ACTION You Will Reclaim your Freedom, reclaim your Spirit, reclaim your Life.
