100 Days, 100 Ways Day 48: Home Is To Stay At Home

There is something that can be said about the individual that can leave WORK at WORK when the whistle blows 5 o'clock and can also leave HOME at HOME when the whistle blows in the morning.

Imagine being able to turn off all your at home worries and solely focus on the job at hand?
Imagine being able to turn off all the day's events and have a restful and peaceful evening at home with your family?


SOUND FAMILIAR?


It should because it's what I wrote yesterday. Now let's flip yesterday's post on the B-side and look at it from the perspective of work. 

When you were hired, you were hired to do a job for your employer who would in turn give you compensation for doing that job. A reality is that many of us bring our home into the workplace. We take calls from our kids, emails from friends, and so on.

So what do you do? You curtail your interactions. Notice I wrote curtail and not completely cut off your interactions. In a tight economy everyone must do more with less and that means that your employer is going to expect you to do more of your job and less socializing, less time spent off the job when you are supposed to be on the job.

This might sound harsh but understand in an economy that is taking no prisoners there is no room for slacking off or the perception of slacking off.

That's why you must enlist the help of your friends and family to get them to support you in keeping the calls and distractions down to a minimum.

Emergencies are understandable and expected. That's life but living in a constant state of Emergency is not understandable and definitely NOT expected nor tolerated by the employer. So do what you can now otherwise it may be too late.

Now, get back to work.
